Nadine Jackson McCleary, MD, MPH, earned her Bachelor of Science Nursing from University of Pennsylvania in 1998, Master of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2002, and Doctor of Medicine at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in 2003. After completing her fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Care, she joined the Center for Gastrointestinal Oncology faculty at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in 2009 where she is currently Senior Physician and Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. McCleary has dedicated her research to the development and application of validated tools to facilitate shared decision making and improve cancer care delivery. Her initial research translated patient reported outcomes (PRO) for older adults diagnosed with gastrointestinal cancers. As Medical Director of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Patient Reported Data Program, her current efforts entail large scale implementation of electronic PRO collection at an academic institution among oncology patients who are often marginalized by access, motivation, or stamina for electronic communication. The overall implementation strategy includes careful review of PRO content, electronic health record integration, workflow assessment, patient, provider and staff training, optimization, data analysis and innovative interventions.
Her work is funded by The Donaghue Foundation, National Cancer Institute UM1, Massachusetts Society of Clinical Oncology, Friends of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and a Dana-Farber Medical Oncology Grant.
